What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your special someone than to embark on a romantic weekend getaway? A trip to Paris, Kingston, Venice or Kyoto may be out of the question, but with the Lowcountry’s abundant portfolio of charming inns, cozy bed and breakfast lodgings, waterfront resorts and boutique hotels, Mount Pleasant residents need not travel far to celebrate the holiday of love with energy, style, and enthusiasm.
THE VENDUE
Ardent about the arts, The Vendue displays a curated collection of original art in its gallery and corridors and hosts an Artist in Residence program. Located within the French Quarter, this boutique hotel’s proximity to Charleston’s Waterfront Park and City Market makes it ideal for guests desiring a romantic stroll or seeking a variety of nearby shopping and dining options.
The property consists of two hotels, 19 Vendue and 26 Vendue, opposite one another on Vendue Range. Each occupies multiple historic warehouse buildings and accordingly each guest room is unique. On-site dining is available at Revival, an upscale restaurant doing its bit to help revive old ingredients, such as Nostrale rice and Jimmy Red grits. Leah Burns of Avocet Hospitality Group, which owns The Vendue, noted that “the heated rooftop bar affords couples a perfect location to enjoy a cocktail while admiring the sunset amongst the church spires and historic Charleston skyline.”
