Beautiful, fitting arrangements and bouquets set the scene for a lovely wedding. When starting the process of floral decisions, you should meet with your florist a year ahead of your wedding date. This ensures that the same seasonal flowers will be available to give you the freshest florae.

When you meet with your florist, you should bring photos that inspire you, as well as your basic flower budget. This might be pictures of your wedding dress, fabric swatches, magazine ads — anything that will help your florist determine your personality and style so they will be adept to make choices about your flowers.

The most fragrant and delicate blooms are available in the springtime. It is hard to not carry a gorgeous bouquet in the spring with all of the peonies, roses, ranunculus and lisianthus abloom.

If your wedding is not in the spring, fear not: you can still create a gorgeous bouquet. Anemones are available in early winter, spring and early summer. Dahlias bloom in late summer and fall. Daisies are available year-round and bring a charming, casual feel to bridesmaid’s

bouquets. Delphiniums are fresh in summer, while iris bloom year round. Lovely smelling lavender comes around in spring as well as summer and fall. Callalillies, hydrangeas, and cymbidium orchids are popular flowers to feature year-round.

Beautiful spring fillers include branches of apple, cherry, dogwood, forsythia, orange and quince blossoms. Some good summer options include peegee and oakleaf hydrangeas, lemons, limes and succulents. Fall fillers might include cotton bolls, berry branches, curly willow, fig branches, gourds and pumpkins. In winter, berry branches, cranberries, evergreen garland, pinecones, pomegranates and snowberries offer a hint of whimsy.

Large, vibrant bouquets bring all eyes to the bride by using stand out colors not previously used in the décor scheme. Fun, local wildflowers to use in outdoor ceremonies include daisies, poppies, lilies, sunflowers and baby’s breath. A single large flower sunflower or daisy is an easy option for bridesmaids to carry. Pearls can add a touch of elegance to arrangements, but the main focus of all wedding flora should remain simply on the quality of flowers. Choose flowers that complement the venues environment. Consider ceiling height, natural and artificial lighting, linens and other stationary items.

Nonbotanical décor is unique and elegant, such as using rope or sea life in centerpiece arrangements. Consider including symbolic family items, such as jewelry or your grandmothers favorite flowers.
